I am just having one of those days. Every stupid little thing is making me cry. I can’t fucking win. I’m wrong about everything even though I’m pretty sure I’m right. The universe is just against me today for whatever reason. I think I’ll just have a beer for lunch. Is it noon yet?

Gibbie has been asking to go to the zoo for two days. So, after an oil change and having to go buy a new battery for my car, I decided I’d rather go today and end up exhausted than wait to go tomorrow.

I’m glad we decided on today. There were a few field trips going on but they were leaving soon after we got there and the zoo was nearly empty. We rode the train, saw lions and monkeys, and had some lunch. I love seeing her happy so I had fun.

I love our little garden. My allergies are so incredibly terrible this time of year so Gibbie and the hubs have been doing all the hard work. The hubs doesn’t even like tomatoes but he must really love me. There are four tomato plants and three have little green tomatoes!

Passed out mid Dora magazine. We had a fun family day in the next town over from us. We just stopped to grab some wine at a local winery and we’ll take the long way home.

We had a traumatic start to our day. I was filing my nails in the truck and Gibbie wanted to see the file. When I was done I gave it to her. I looked back a few times at her and she was either trying to file her nails or had it in her lap. It was just a cheap cardboard emory board and I didn’t think much of her fiddling with it. I look back again and she had it in between her lips, rubbing it back and forth, and there was blood all over her mouth. I panicked because I thought she had cut open the sides of her mouth (joker style) but she just cut both lips a bit. The blood was ridiculous. Now she says it hurts but she doesn’t seem to have a problem eating or drinking.

Anyone have any tips on what kind of ointment would work for her mouth? I’m terrified of infection especially in such a germy area.

This is my mama. She was an incredible mama. She was too old to do some things that younger mamas could have done but her age gave me more than enough knowledge and love than I could have asked for. I miss her and love her and oh man would she love Gibbie. Happy Mother’s Day Mama!

Gibbie was really getting the hang of going peepee in the potty about two months ago. Then we went out of town. She went once while we were in Tucson but then decided she didn’t want anything to do with the potty when we got back. I didn’t really push it because I knew we would be going to San Antonio and I didn’t want to have progress and then have to start all over again after vacation. Also, isn’t it soooooo much easier to have a kid in diapers on an eight hour car trip? Seriously?! Who wants to stop at every rest area?

Well I decided that today would be the day to start all over. Yesterday was our first full day back and we were all too exhausted to do anything. This morning we were all still pretty tired but I was determined… though not so determined to start first thing this morning. We had to go to Target for a few things and I’ve had a coupon for $3 off of some Pampers Pull Ups in my back for a few months. I really didn’t want to use training pants. I figured it wasn’t going to help her understand not to pee if she’s not on the potty. However, with the coupon and Dora being on them and the fact that she’s not really getting how to pull up and push down her undies just yet I thought maybe I’d give it a try.

So, after nap time Gibbie came out to get some cuddles and I promptly asked her if she wanted to go potty and she said yes. I gave her the choice of her princess potty or the actual toilet (the seat has a built in toddler seat for little butts). She chose the big potty. After a few minutes she went peepee! We cheered, high fived, and put on our very first pair of pull ups! She is very excited about Dora being on her training panties.

I explained that we don’t want to get these dirty or wet so if she needed to go she should tell me and that I would ask her in a little while if she needs to go again. We also have actual Dora panties (and Yo Gabba Gabba and some with flowers) and I told her if she does a good job with these training panties she can start using those. She’s really excited about that.

Here we go, I think I’m ready to be persistent and patient this time.
